How to Support Those Affected by the Los Angeles Wildfires

01/09/2025

Since late Tuesday, five people have died, more than 2,000 structures have burned, and more than 130,000 residents are under evacuation orders due to multiple wildfires burning across Los Angeles County, California.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has deployed over 1,400 firefighters and declared a state of emergency. However, as of Thursday morning, multiple fires continue in the region, and the Pacific Palisades wildfire alone has burned over 17,000 acres.

Here’s how to help both the firefighters and victims of the ongoing Southern California wildfires.

Cal Fire Benevolent Fund

Cal Fire, the state’s fire department and resource management agency, and is responsible for protecting over 31 million acres of privately-owned wildlands. The agency’s benevolent fund provides financial aid to firefighters and their families in the case of injury or loss of life. The organization also helps support burn victims and their families, along with research focused on firefighter health and safety.

GoFundMe

The community crowdsourcing website has set up a page to share verified fundraisers for Los Angeles Wildfire victims.

World Central Kitchen

The Southern California branch of the World Central Kitchen was on-site quickly Wednesday to provide sandwiches and water for wildfire victims. The organization will continue providing resources and support to victims and firefighters on the frontlines of evacuation areas.

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as other non-profits, to respond to the disaster.

California Fire Foundation

The Cal Fire Foundation provides support and resources to the thousands of firefighters on the ground right now.

California Community Foundation

The California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund is committed to supporting relief and recovery efforts for all California wildfires. The foundation is also working to address the growing impact of climate change and worsening wildfire seasons.
