Deputy Director Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center

Ms. Suzana C. Iveljic was appointed Deputy Director at the Washington DC VA Medical Center effective April 24, 2023.

In this role, Ms. Iveljic is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all administrative services supporting a 205-bed academic medical center; a 90-bed community living center, and six Community-Based Outpatient Clinics, caring for more than 100,000 Veterans.

Ms. Iveljic graduated from the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program, where she was on assignment as Executive Director, Workforce & Organizational Development, Office of People Science, Office of Information Technology. Her duties included providing executive leadership for comprehensive organizational development, training, and employee programs.

Ms. Iveljic led the Shared Services Directorate in the Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Office of the Secretary since March 2020. She oversaw Information Technology Systems Integration, Administrative Operations, Contracting, Correspondence, and Interagency Relations for a program that advocates for the inclusion of small businesses in VA’s annual procurement of $28 billion.

Ms. Iveljic also completed a rotation at the Environmental Protection Agency as part of the President’s Management Council, where she led the National Training Needs Assessment in support of President Biden’s climate change agenda. In 2015, Ms. Iveljic joined the Veterans Health Administration Office of Communications as Director of Digital Media. In this role, she supervised program managers that oversaw the work of 1,000+ web editors across the country. Additionally, she led the dissemination of products to 300,000 employees and 9 million Veterans. Annually, her team garnered about 16 million impressions.

Ms. Iveljic and her teams have won numerous awards, including the Secretary’s I CARE award for removing about 2 million Section 508 accessibility errors from the website in 2019. In 2010, she won the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriotic Employer Award. In 1999, Ms. Iveljic received the 312th Military Intelligence Battalion Certificate of Achievement for her work supporting the U.S. Armed Forces in Tuzla, Bosnia, rebuilding the economic, social, and political structures within the country.

Ms. Iveljic is a graduate of VA’s Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program, and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s Leadership Education and Development Program. She holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Akron, as well as two Bachelor of Science degrees in Communications and Healthcare Administration from Ohio University.
