Throughout his life, Brad Wenstrup has placed a high value on service, as an Army Colonel, physician, and Congressman. A Cincinnati native, Wenstrup graduated from University of Cincinnati in 1980. He earned a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree and completed his surgical residency in Chicago, then returned to Cincinnati to open his own private practice before joining a large orthopedic group and practicing for 26 years. A member of the U.S. Army Reserve since 1998, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge for his service as a combat surgeon in Iraq in 2005-2006. In 2018, he was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for Heroism. Currently, Colonel Wenstrup serves as Medical Policy Advisor for the Chief of the Army Reserve as well as providing patient care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. As a member of Congress, Rep. Wenstrup serves on the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Committee on Ways and Means. He served for more than five years on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where he worked closely on crucial legislation to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). While he was chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, he worked to ensure that our veterans receive the quality healthcare they have earned, and he continues to work toward that goal going forward. Dr. Wenstrup cochairs the House GOP Doctors Caucus and works tirelessly to ensure our troops and their loved ones receive the first class benefits they have earned through their service. Brad lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Monica, and their son, Brad Jr.
