The Directorate of Simulation (DOS) office oversees all Combat Medic Scope of practice as well as Clinical Practice Guidelines needed to operate in the prehospital and clinical operational medicine landscape. The DOS provides all regulatory guidance and management of initial certification and semi-annual recertification for issuance of license as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Advanced-EMT, and Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) and specialty course certifications like NRP Critical Care Flight Medic and dive medicine. The simulation assets this office oversee is for the use in currency training of combat medics, collective training for extraction, transportation, resuscitative care, emergency war surgery, and evacuation care. The DOS is the center of gravity for collection of all assessment and training data for the combat medics and the teams that work far forward in the combat zone.
Mr. Michael Eldred joined the Army in 1986 from Tampa Florida. He Served for 30 years as a Combat Medic and Leader in Army Medicine, in roles from Ranger Medic, Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Infantry First Sergeant, and Medical Operations Senior Non-Commissioned Officer. He has served in combat under austere and dangerous conditions and understands the needs for realistic, demanding training to meet the needs of the combat medical provider.
Mr. Eldred has been married since 2006 to his wife Anna and they have two amazing children, Nicholas, and Sophia. He attends church at Saint Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, is a member of the Order of American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), He is the Senior Vice Commander at Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), post 8541, and is the Scout Master of Troop 23 on Fort Sam Houston.
