Lieutenant Colonel David Jones

Commander, 705th Combat Training Squadron US Air Force

Lt. Col. David Jones is the Commander, 705th Combat Training Squadron, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. As the Commander, he leads 155 personnel at the Distributed Mission Operations Center. The squadron provides integrated Multi-Domain Operations training for more than a dozen joint and coalition exercises annually, training over 10,000 warfighters through exercise VIRTUAL FLAG and other advanced training events. He is responsible for a $19 million-dollar annual operating budget and sustaining a $250 million-dollar battlespace. The DMOC is a Joint National Training Capability accredited facility, conducting research and development for modeling and simulation. The DMOC is a subordinate unit of the 505th Combat Training Group, Nellis AFB, Nev., and 505th Command and Control Wing, Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Lt. Col. Jones received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and commissioned through Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in 2006. He received a Master of Arts in International Relations from Troy University in 2012. As a Weapons Systems Operator, the lieutenant colonel has more than 2,000 flying hours in the F-15E including more than 900 combat hours flying in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Inherent Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, and Noble Eagle.

Lt. Col. Jones is a graduate of the 13O Operational Warfare Planner Initial Skills Training Course. He was the 607th AOC Strategy Plans Team Chief, 607th AOC Strategy Deputy Chief, and 607th AOC Director of Staff at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. Prior to his current position, the lieutenant colonel was the Director of Operations for the 505th Training Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla.
