Scott Kim

Director, Office of Protection Diplomatic Security Service

Scott is a member of the Senior Foreign Service and has been with Diplomatic Security since 1999. Starting as a Special Agent in the Los Angeles Field Office, he has also served at the U.S. Embassy in Algiers, Algeria, with the Office of Mobile Security Deployment, and the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, South Korea. Following assignments within International Programs for South and Central Asian Affairs and then as the Special Assistant to the DAS for DS/IP, he returned overseas at the U.S. Consulate in Shenyang, China and was selected as the Marine Security Guard 2014 RSO of the Year for Region 3. After returning to WDC to serve in the Dignitary Protection Division, the Washington Field Office, and then as the Office Director of the DS Command Center, he most recently served as the Senior Deputy Regional Security Officer in Baghdad, Iraq and is currently the Office Director for the Office of Protection for Diplomatic Security.

Throughout his career, Scott has served as a DS Mentor, a BEX Panel subject matter expert, a core member of the DS Peer Support Group and as Chair of the DS Diversity Working Group. As a native of New Jersey, Scott received his B.A. from Lehigh University and his J.D. from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.
