Scott Young grew up in North Pole, Alaska graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the United States Naval Academy and commissioned in 1995 as a Naval Intelligence Officer.
During his 29-year military career, he deployed multiple times afloat on the aircraft carriers USS Independence (CV-66), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), and USS John Stennis (CVN-74) to the Middle East and Asian Pacific, including two three surge deployments. He deployed ashore twice to the Middle East to support Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
His shore assignments include two tours with U.S. Central Command and assignments in Washington D.C. with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as Deputy in the White House Situation Room, head of Naval Intelligence International Programs and Engagement, and Information Warfare Budget Analyst on the Navy Staff. He has a Masters degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
Scott joined SMX in June 2024 and is the Director of Policy and Oversight. He lives in the Tampa area with his wife Stephanie and their two children Audrey and Maxwell.
