Colonel Jones is the Division Chief, Joint Integrated Air & Missile Defense Organization (JIAMDO) on the Joint Staff, J-8, aligned under the Deputy Director for Force Protection. He is responsible to support the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, through the Director J-8, by coordinating development of Air & Missile Defense capabilities. JIAMDO facilitates collaboration between the Services, Combatant Commands, & agencies to identify existing & emerging innovative capabilities. They do this while fostering integration through support to simulations, technology demonstrations, & research, development, test & evaluation projects. Colonel Jones graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law & Politics from Emory & Henry College, attended Air Force Officer Training School & commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1997. He attended initial Air Battle Manager qualification course at Tyndall Air Force Base & qualified as an Air Battle Manager. His professional military education includes Squadron Officer School, Air Command & Staff College & Air War College via Correspondence. Colonel Jones also holds a Master of Science in Aeronautics & Technology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Colonel Jones’ first duty assignment was at the 965th Airborne Air Control Squadron, 552d Operations Group, 552d Air Control Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, where he served as an Air Weapons Officer on board the E-3 Airborne Warning & Control System (AWACS). From there he deployed to Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, Operation NORTHERN WATCH & counter drug operations in South America. Next, he moved to the 325th Air Control Squadron, 325th Operations Group, 325th Fighter Wing, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, where he served as an Air Weapons Officer Instructor & Flight Commander. Colonel Jones’ next assignment was with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Airborne Early Warning & Control Force, Geilenkirchen Air Base, Germany, where he was an E-3 Weapons Controller, Fighter Allocator & the Chief of Squadron Weapons & Tactics. Leaving Germany, he was assigned to the 552d Operations Support Squadron, 552d Operations Group, 552d Air Control Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, where he served as an E-3 Mission Crew Commander, Deputy Chief of Current Operations & Assistant Director of Operations, while also deploying in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM & Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Colonel Jones transitioned to staff at Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, where he served as Branch Chief, Airborne Command & Control Systems & Executive Officer to the Air Combat Command Director of Operations. Following this tour, he led the 607th Air Control Squadron, 56th Operations Group, 56th Fighter Wing, Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, as Director of Operations & Squadron Commander. After command, Colonel Jones served as Deputy Commander at the Warrior Preparation Center, Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe, Einsiedlerhof, Germany, while also deploying to Headquarters United States Central Command supporting Operation INHERENT RESOLVE & Operation RESOLUTE SUPPORT. Most recently, he was Deputy Division Chief of Integrated Air & Missile Defense Operations at Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe. Colonel Jones’ awards & decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), Aerial Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal (w/2 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal (w/1 OLC), Air Education & Training Command Master Instructor & Master Air Battle Manager Wings.
