Kim M. Brown, a member of the Senior Executive Service, serves as the Deputy Director of Logistics, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering, and Force Protection, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Arlington, Virginia. She is responsible for supporting the Director of Logistics by providing executive leadership and direction for organizing, training, and equipping more than 201,000 logisticians who maintain and support mission generation and the aerospace weapons system inventory. Ms. Brown assists with providing strategic guidance for materiel management, fuels, vehicle operations and management, deployment and distribution, personal property, traffic management and logistics plans. The directorate develops policy and oversees force development for logistics readiness, maintenance and munitions, ensuring the readiness of the single largest element of manpower supporting Air Force combat forces globally.
Carolina where she worked for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS). Early on, she moved to various locations, including Keflavik, Iceland, where she again worked for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS); and Rome, New York, where she worked for Rome Laboratory and Defense Finance and Accounting. In 2000, Ms. Brown joined the Logistics community in Warner Robins, Georgia. She served as an Item Manager for the next seven years where she progressed to a team lead in the C-130 Product Directorate of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. Ms. Brown was assigned to Air Staff under HQ/A4IT at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio in April, 2007 as a member of the Logistics Transformation Office. In 2017, she became the Division Chief for the Systems Integration Division, directing Portfolio Management, Logistics Process Transformation and Data Transformation for the Air Force logistics enterprise. In this position, she shaped, developed and championed Program Objective Memorandum requirements and budget execution of Air Force Logistics Information Technology systems portfolio. She led Business IT systems standardization for capability acquisition, ensuring solutions interoperability and integration across cross functional areas. She also managed strategic alignment of logistics business processes, systems and logistics processes to equip and enable warfighter support.
