Brigadier General Beth Behn

Director of Operations, G-43/5/7, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff , G-4 US Army

Brigadier General Beth Behn assumed duties as the Director of Operations, HQDA G-43/5/7 on 5 June 2024. She is a native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1994, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps.

BG Behn is a graduate of the Air War College, the Army Command and General Staff College, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, and the Transportation Officer Basic Course. She holds a MA and Ph.D. in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Behn’s key leadership assignments include the 33rd Chief of Transportation/Commandant, U.S. Army Transportation School, Fort Gregg-Adams, VA; Commander, 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary), Fort Eustis, VA; Commander, 26th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA; Commander, 96th Transportation Company (HET), Fort Hood (known as Fort Cavazos since 2023), TX; and Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Detachment Commander in various units in the 24th Transportation Battalion, 7th Transportation Group, Fort Eustis, VA.

Other significant assignments include Deputy Commander for Support, Security Assistance Group-Ukraine, Executive Officer, Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G8, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; Chief of Staff, Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, IL; Deputy Chief of Staff, G4, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA; Assistant Professor, Department of History, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY; BCT S-4 and Support Operations Officer, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO; and Battalion S-4, 180th Transportation Battalion, Fort Cavazos, TX.

BG Behn’s operational deployments include Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti in 1995, Operation Desert Thunder (Kuwait) in 1998, Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07 and 08-10 (Iraq), and Operation Atlantic Resolve in 2023. BG Behn is a graduate of the Air War College, the Army Command and General Staff College, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, and the Transportation Officer Basic Course. She holds a MA and Ph.D. in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

BG Behn’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (w/OLC), Bronze Star Medal (w/OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (w/4 OLC); NATO Medal; National Defense Service Medal (w/Bronze Star); Iraq Campaign Medal (w/2 Bronze Stars) and Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
