Special Agent James W. Peaco III graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1992, and served as an Infantry Officer in the US Marine Corps. In 1998 SA Peaco joined the FBI as a Special Agent and was assigned to the Los Angeles Field Office. SA Peaco's initial assignment was on a violent crimes/criminal enterprise squad that targeted street gangs. As a collateral duty SA Peaco served as an operator on the FBI Los Angeles Special Weapons and tactics Team from 1999-2012. In 2007 SA Peaco began his current assignment as the Los Angeles Division Weapons of Mass Destruction Coordinator (WMDC). SA Peaco is responsible for WMD threat assessments, prevention, preparedness, and support to WMD investigations. SA Peaco has gone through extensive CBRNE training with various federal state and local entities and was certified as a FBI WMD Coordinator in 2012. SA Peaco’s involvement in Counter UAS (CUAS) operations began with a CUAS operation supporting the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl Game. In 2020 SA Peaco developed the model for CUAS operations in support of wildland fires. SA Peaco has participated in numerous CUAS operations ranging from detection and ground intercept only to full aerial mitigation.
