Director, Air and Marine Operations Center US Customs and Border Protection

Neil “Clark” Lanzendorf is Director, Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC), Air and Marine Operations (AMO), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). AMO’s mission is to safeguard our nation by anticipating and confronting security threats through our aviation and maritime law enforcement expertise, innovative capabilities, and partnerships at the border and beyond. AMO has approximately 1,800 federal agents and mission support personnel, 240 aircraft, and 300 marine vessels operating throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We conduct our mission in the air and maritime environments at and beyond the border and within the nation’s interior.

As Director, AMOC, Director Lanzendorf is responsible for the operation of all three AMO Domain Awareness Centers, which include the AMOC, Caribbean Air and Marine Operations Center, and Capital Region Unit. All three centers conduct air and maritime surveillance operations, providing direct coordination to AMO; CBP law enforcement officers; and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies conducting criminal investigations.

Director Lanzendorf began his federal service as a Contract Specialist through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acquisition Professional Career Program, where he completed yearlong rotations with the DHS Science and Technology Directorate; Federal Law Enforcement Training Center–Cheltenham; and the U.S. Secret Service. Upon completion of the Acquisition Professional Career Program in 2011, Director Lanzendorf transitioned to the U.S. Secret Service as a Contracting Officer, where he supported a wide range of protective and investigative operations until 2014.

Director Lanzendorf joined AMO in 2014 as a Program Manager in the Tactical Aircraft and Vessel Acquisitions Division, where, over the course of his tenure, he managed several major acquisition programs to include the Light Enforcement Helicopter, Multi-Role Enforcement Aircraft, and UH-60 Black Hawk. In 2019, he was selected as Director, Tactical Aircraft and Vessel Acquisitions, proudly serving until October 2022, when he was selected as Director, Acquisitions, where he was responsible for acquisitions, systems integration, and engineering.

Director Lanzendorf earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Shepherd University in 2007 and a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University in 2013. In 2019, he graduated from the U.S. Army War College as a Superior Graduate, earning a Master of Strategic Studies. Director Lanzendorf is the recipient of the 2019 Executive Assistant Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Operational Support and holds Senior Level Federal Acquisition Certifications in Contracting, Contracting Officer’s Representative, and Program Management.
