Jody Hardin

Executive Director, Innovation and Strategy Directorate, Office of Field Operations, US Customs and Border Protection Department of Homeland Security

Jody Hardin is the Executive Director for the Innovation and Strategy Directorate in CBP’s Office of Field Operations. In this role, she leads strategy development, operational analysis, and business transformation efforts that impact over 27,000 frontline employees at 328 ports of entry and 17 pre-clearance locations. Ms. Hardin oversees the development of innovation and technology for field operations including new artificial intelligence use cases, biometric solutions, land border processing technologies, non-intrusive inspection systems, and mobile applications. She led the development of long-term strategies for pleasure boat and cruise vessel process re-engineering as well as the deployment of facial biometrics in air, land and sea operations. Ms. Hardin began her CBP career in the Area Port of Honolulu where she served for 17 years before joining HQ in 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Hawai’i.
