Jesse Muñoz

Chief Patrol Agent, Laredo Sector US Border Patrol

Jesse D. Muñoz is currently the Chief Patrol Agent (CPA) of Laredo Sector (LRT).

CPA Muñoz entered on duty on August 21, 2000, with the 448th session of the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Academy. He was initially assigned to Laredo North Station, LRT, and then graduated from the Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) Selection Course Class 7 in 2004.

CPA Muñoz was promoted to a Supervisory Border Patrol Agent in May of 2006 at the Tucson Sector, Ajo Station. In 2007, he was selected as a Field Operations Supervisor (FOS) with the BORSTAR National team at Special Operations Group (SOG) in El Paso, Texas. In June 2010, he was selected as an Assistant Chief at CBP Headquarters in the Joint Operations Directorate in Washington, D.C. where he served until October 2011. In October 2011, CPA Muñoz returned to SOG as a FOS; after his return to SOG, he has served as the CBP Advisor in Belmopan, Belize for a 6-month tour, the BORSTAR National Commander and SOG Deputy Chief Patrol Agent.

CPA Muñoz served for eight years in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic and a Vocational Nurse. He deployed to Turkey and Iraq in 1991 as a Combat Medic with the Third Infantry Division. He has significant experience in foreign deployments with SOG in Mexico, Africa, Central America, Europe, and the Middle East. Chief Muñoz has served in command and leadership roles in numerous domestic missions to secure the border and address high risk threat areas within the U.S. as well as deploying to several national emergency events during his tenure as a member of BORSTAR and SOG.

CPA Muñoz has a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College and Bachelor’s Degree in History from the American Military University.
