Darnita Akers

Assistant Director Government Accountability Office

Darnita Akers is an Assistant Director in GAO’s Science, Technology Assessment, and Analytics team. Darnita has been with GAO since June 2010. During this time, she has worked on a range of science and technology topics including advanced manufacturing, critical materials, semiconductor supply chains, and biometric identification technologies.

Darnita joined GAO after working as an attorney for the District of Columbia government. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston. She also holds a juris doctor from Howard University, and a master’s in public policy from Georgetown University.
