Senior Advisor for Defense Exports Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army

Ms. Sandy Long is the Senior Advisor for Defense Exports within the DASA (DE&C) office. She serves as a Senior Leader in support of the DASA (DE&C). The DASA (DE&C) office is the U.S. Army lead for security assistance, exports, technology transfer, armaments cooperation, and for equipping and training our international partners. As such, DASA (DE&C) manages, leads and directs the Army’s global security assistance programs. Ms. Long has been with the DASA (DE&C) office for over sixteen years; the last eleven serving as a Director for both the Resource and Policy Directorate and the Strategic Planning Directorate. Those duties included development of strategic planning; creation and implementation of career development for the FMS workforce; IT support for those systems supporting the DASA (DE&C) programs; coordination of air and trade shows; metrics; financial management, policy development and business management of the DASA (DE&C) office. Prior to coming to the DASA (DE&C) office, she served as the Regional Director within the Acquisition Career Management Office. Duties included career development, career management, coordination of training and educational programs as well as managing the acquisition workforce within the National Capital Region. Previously, Ms. Long spent approximately ten years in various Program Management Offices developing and managing information technology systems for the U.S. Army at both the strategic and tactical levels. Ms. Long received her Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Management in 1993, from the University of Maryland University College; Master’s Degree in Information Systems Management in 1999, from the University of Maryland University College; and Master’s Degree in Strategic Planning and Resourcing in 2004, from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Ms. Long is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps and holds a Level III certification in Program Management and Information Technology. In addition, Ms. Long has completed the requirements for and has been awarded certification in the Security Cooperation Workforce Development program.
