Major General (Ret.) Darren Werner

President SAPA Transmission

Maj. Gen. Darren Werner was named President, SAPA Transmission in 2024. He supervises military logistics & procurement, ensuring SAPA's leadership in the industry collaborating with key organizations such as BAE Systems, General Dynamics & other defense acquisition programs. While leading operations, he fosters a culture of innovation & growth. Prior to SAPA Transmission, Werner was Commanding General, U.S. Army Tank Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM), specializing in advanced mobility solutions for NATO. He also served overseas in Germany, Jordan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Korea. Throughout his service, Werner received notable commands: • 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Fort Cavasos, Texas. • Strategic Logistics Integration (G-4/5/7), Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. • 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Germany, and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan. • 4th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq. Werner has also been an advisor for Central Michigan University and non-profit organizations, a senior advisor for the Arsenal of Democracy AUSA Chapter, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA.) He holds many decorations and badges including: • Distinguished Service Medal. • Legion of Merit, 4 bronze oak leaf clusters. • Bronze Star Medal, 1 bronze oak leaf cluster. • Defense Meritorious Service Medal. • Meritorious Service Medal, 1 silver, 1 bronze oak leaf cluster. • Army Commendation Medal, 1 bronze oak leaf cluster. • Army Achievement Medal, 1 bronze oak leaf cluster. • Parachutist Badge. • Army Staff Identification Badge. Werner has a Bachelor of Science in biology from Central Michigan University (1989), a master’s in human resources, Webster University (2001) and a master’s in national security and strategic studies, U.S. Naval War College (2010.)
