Lieutenant Colonel David W. Griffith

LTC David Griffith is a military brat from Pineville, Louisiana. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2000 as an infantryman before pursuing college ROTC. He commissioned in 2005 as an Armor officer through ROTC at Northwestern State University after receiving a B.S. in psychology.

After completing the Armor Officer Basic Course, LTC Griffith was assigned to 2-34 AR, 1/1ID at Fort Riley, KS where he served as a Tank Platoon Leader until his brigade assumed a Military Transition Team training mission. He was then reassigned to 2nd Squadron, 3d ACR at Fort Cavazos, TX where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09 serving as a Scout Platoon Leader for Eagle Troop in vicinity of Mosul, Iraq. Upon redeployment, he attended the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course at Fort Moore, GA. He was then assigned to 3rd Squadron, 3d ACR and deployed to Operation New Dawn 10-11 serving as a Tank Company Commander in Najaf, Iraq and the HHT Commander once redeployed. Following command, he was assigned to Fort Johnson, LA and trained combat advisors deploying to Afghanistan.

LTC Griffith then attended the Air Command and Staff College at Montgomery Air Force Base, AL and the Advanced Military Studies Program at Fort Leavenworth, KS. After graduation, he was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division as a maneuver planner in the Division G5 and deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in Baghdad, Iraq. He then served as the Battalion XO for 2-34 AR and Battalion S3 for 3-66 AR while deployed to Poland in support of Atlantic Resolve with 1st ABCT, 1ID. After redeployment, he served as the Brigade XO for 1/1 ID. Following Fort Riley, he served with the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany as an OC/T training both Squadron S3s and Brigade XOs. LTC Griffith now serves as the Battalion Commander for 3-67 Armor, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA and recently returned from deployment to Lithuania in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
