COL Charles L. Montgomery First Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade Commander COL Charles L. Montgomery graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi (Hattiesburg) in 2001 and was commissioned into the Logistics Branch.
COL Montgomery has served in various positions throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He commanded the 123rd Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division located at Fort Bliss, Texas. Following Battalion Command, COL Montgomery served as the Senior Sustainment Trainer at one of three United States Army Combat Training Centers (CTC), The Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC), Hohenfels, Germany, 7th Army Training Command.
COL Montgomery served as an Assignments Officer at the Human Resources Command (Fort Knox, Kentucky) serving the LG Majors population. COL Montgomery’s staff assignments include service within 3ID as a G5 Planner, 2IBCT S4, and 2IBCT SPO.
COL Montgomery holds a degree in history from the University of Southern Mississippi and is a graduate of the U.S. Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) and the U.S. Air Force War College. His awards include operational campaigns and overseas medals for Iraq, South Korea, and Germany.
