Dr. Delester Brown Jr. spearheads a comprehensive data program as the Chief Data Officer (CDO) at the National Guard Bureau, that spans across 54 states and territories. He is responsible for overseeing the strategic use of data to inform business and operational decisions, drive innovation in AI/ML, and improve operational efficiency. With a proven track record of driving digital transformation, Dr. Brown previously served as the CDO and CTO for the Army National Guard, where he successfully transitioned the organization to a data-centric model.

A highly respected expert in his field, Dr. Brown is known for his exceptional leadership skills, which enable him to effectively manage diverse teams of military personnel, civilians, and contractors. His expertise in emerging technologies has yielded numerous successes, including the design of Guard Cloud Services and the development of the Army's first approved mobility solution under the Rapid Workforce Capabilities Program.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Brown is a dedicated advocate for higher education and STEM outreach. As a published author, he tutors and guest lectures at the Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Gordon, inspiring the next generation of leaders. His commitment to education extends to his previous role as an instructor in the Engineering Technology Program at Lanier Technical College, where he collaborated on curriculum development and taught science lessons to the Boys & Girls Club of Lanier.

Dr. Brown's academic credentials are equally impressive, with a Doctorate in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University, a master’s degree in Network and Communications Management from Keller School Management, and undergraduate degrees in Electronic Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology from DeVry University and Augusta Technical College, respectively. Throughout his career, Dr. Brown has received numerous awards and recognition for his outstanding contributions, including multiple performance awards, challenge coins, the Superior Civilian Service Medal (twice), and the prestigious Bronze Order of Mercury from the Signal Corps Regimental Association.

Dr. Brown attributes his success to the unwavering support of his family, including his wife, Felicia, and two daughters, Ziva and Eleta. Their love and encouragement enable him to maintain a high-energy approach to his work, bringing a family-oriented atmosphere to the workplace. As a testament to his dedication to his family and profession, Dr. Brown continues to excel as a leader, mentor, and advocate for STEM education and outreach.
