Executive Director America Makes (National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining)

John was appointed to America Makes Executive Director in June 2019. Prior to this role, John was the America Makes Technology Director with the responsibility of the facilitation of the National Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing Roadmap, the development of an Intellectual Property (IP) Management Plan, the execution of the Project Call Process for Agency-Driven and Cooperative Agreement Driven project solicitations, and program management of the America Makes project portfolio. He joined NCDMM in October 2009 as the Manager of the Manufacturing Consortium and has more than 20 years of manufacturing experience. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing and coordinating opportunities and initiatives related to the NCDMM Supply Chain and Sustainability Program areas. He also led the MRSI program and MTConnect Challenge. John graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He has worked in a wide variety of manufacturing positions with varying levels of responsibility. John started out as a Process Engineer at Valeo Engine Cooling with a focus on process improvement, equipment productivity and new technology implementation. He continued to gain experience in manufacturing, while spending more than eight years at General Motors Pontiac Metal Center Division working through a variety of positions and levels throughout the stamping organization.
