Enhancing Communications Capabilities and Security
New York, New York March 21, 2012 –- The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) announces the Social Media for Defense Summit scheduled for May 21-23, 2012 in Washington, DC.
Members from the DoD and private sector will convene this May to discuss and evaluate the use of Social Media in the Military and how it is being used as a weapon in tomorrow’s battlefields.
IDGA’s 5th Annual Social Media for Defense Summit will cover the recent changes and lessons learned from all areas of military, government and industry. The nature of the ongoing combat operations have reshaped the way the military and government use Social Media, promoting greater collaboration among training organizations and preparing them for future possible scenarios.
The Social Media for Defense Summit has two main conference days that cover topics such as: How the Army is using Social Media to inform, Educate and Connect, OPSEC: Vulnerabilities associated with social networking,, US-CERT: Security Standards and Capabilities for Social Media Platforms and US Security Precautions for Social Networks.

The event also offers a Pre Summit Focus day that will examine current Government and Department of Defense social media advances and initiatives. Hear updates from research leaders and platform representatives with regards to the latest trends in social networking
